The SGTM (Server-side GTM) tag allows you to connect your website/e-shop to your Ecomail account through a server-side GTM container. The SGTM tag is another way to transfer data from your website/e-shop to your Ecomail account without the need for programmers.
What you will find in the article:
1. Setting up the connection using the sGTM tag
To successfully establish the connection, there must be an existing data transfer from your website/e-shop to your Google Tag Manager (GTM), specifically to the server container.
The published sGTM tag offers the transfer of the following types of data based on the enhanced e-commerce data layer of GA4 (Google Analytics 4). The following events can be transferred if they are included in your data set:
Customers (contacts, creation, or update)
Orders
Web events (such as abandoned carts)
It is also necessary to have an existing Ecomail account to which the data will be transferred.
Steps to connect using the Ecomail sGTM tag
To set up a properly functioning connection, you need a configured GTM server container and data based on the enhanced e-commerce GA4 data layer. With these prepared in the GTM server container, you can proceed to install the Ecomail sGTM tag as follows:
In the project where you want to set up the connection, click on the “Tags” item.
2. Select a "New" tag.
3. Through the “Tag Configuration” select the option to search for a tag in the “Community Template Gallery”.
4. Search for “Ecomail sGTM tag” and then add it to your project by selecting “Add to workspace"
5. Now, you just need to configure the connection itself. To do this, you need to fill in the following values
Contact list ID to which you want the contacts to be transferred in Ecomail
API key
6. We recommend testing the setup in the preview mode of Google Tag Manager for your project, which you are connecting to your Ecomail account.
